A Place to Dine in Style in My Home

I am a frustrated entertainer. My home is 1960's tri-level without a formal dining room. The kitchen has a section for a dining room set which has served us well for informal meals. However, the table seats only six persons. My dream is to have a formal dining room with a table that could seat a large number of people. This would be especially nice for holiday meals or dinner parties. I enjoy cooking and entertaining, but this has been really limited for me without a dining room. We have a large patio off the kitchen which I would like to turn into a dining room. I would like it to have an oak hardwood floor installed and large windows. I would use oriental area rugs on the hardwood floor and hang some elegant draperies. I have seen many lovely antique china closets and buffets that I would like to purchase for this room. I would also like to install an antique lighting fixture as a chandelier. . I can imagine using my good linen and china to serve an elegant Thanksgiving meal by candlelight in such a room. I would also like to have a small powder room put in off the dining room since we have no bathroom on the ground level. I think these changes would make my home a much better place to entertain guests.
