Advertisements are everywhere. They are so annoying to some people that sites use it as a bargaining chip to sign into a membership to get rid of them - sign up and get rid of the banners! The simple fact is advertisements make people money, and often they keep the site you are looking at up and running for you without having to ask you for money or making you pay for the service. There is a line to be crossed here though. Some sites have advertisements that go out of their way to be clicked. They cover everything, they move in front of your mouse, they cant be exited, or they have a fake exit button that really just clicks the link. These type of advertisements are used to trick you and often times they make me avoid the site they are on completely. Advertisements are fine, as long as you are not taking away my right to choose by forcing me to click your link. As for the regular ads, I believe they are doing more good than people think they are and keep products and services free for us to use. |
