My initial trip to Lake Texoma was made the most memorable by a Buckely Striper Guide. I was initiated to the first and most important lessons in strip fishing.
Lesson number one was to get up early to catch the first fish. That seemed like a hilarious idea until I got the logic that fish do come to the surface during the early part of the day. Next was learning how to identify the fish. The Buckley Striper Guide gave me a quick heads up on the kind of fish we were looking for. It's the Stripped bass which was a silver fish with lots of stripes. I learned that the fish also went by the names rockfish, linesider, and pimpfish.
The most important part was learning how to catch the fish. The Buckley Striper Guide gave me specific instructions on how to put in the bait and throw the line into the water. |

For many years, I have wanted to take better pictures of my mother. It is difficult because she is camera shy but as she gets older, I become more concerned about preserving memories of her for myself and her grandchildren - I wanted to take some great portrait photographs of her. This last summer, I got some shots that I am very happy with. The solution seemed to be to catch her in action or pose her with the grandchildren so she feels less self conscious. Some of my favorite images include her reading stories to our daughter and a group shot of all of us preparing corn on the cob for a backyard barbecue. My mother also liked having advance notice so that she could pick out clothing that she felt was flattering. She even made a special trip to her hairdresser so she would look her best. My father loves the camera so it is easy to get good shots of him but I am glad we finally have better pictures of my mother. |
